John Makuru

Managing Director
John Makuru has been heavily involved in the demolition and asbestos industries since the start of the 2010 Christchurch earthquakes. Previously owning a demolition company and an asbestos removal company, John formed Asbestos Assessors New Zealand Ltd (AANZ) in 2014 to help tackle New Zealand’s growing asbestos problem. AANZ was started in conjunction with the new asbestos Regulations 2016 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. John has been trained up to the W504 and CPCC standards and holds both his Assessor’s and Supervisor’s License.

Keith Andrews

Director
Keith has come from a background in the recruitment industry in Southland and moved to Auckland to continue his career. The importance of Health and Safety has always been extremely important to him and this saw Keith transitioning into the Asbestos auditing arena and then more recently adding Methamphetamine testing to his portfolio. Keith has trained under the W504 and CPCC standards and has his IP402 and IP404 Certificates . He holds an Assessors License and also has his certificate in Drug and Alcohol testing.

Tia Mataira

SMARTS Technology
With a background in Salvage, Systems Administration & Implementation, Tia joined  the company when it became operational in 2014. Originally developing fundamental job-management & tracking systems, integral to the day to day operations . Tia is now responsible for the development and training of the SMARTS software

Trudy Brand

Sales & Project Manager
Trudy has spent a large portion of her career within the Civil Sector. An expert at multi-tasking Trudy played a large role in the demolition processes for Jamon Construction & Civil Ltd. From here Trudy moved into the asbestos removal industry where she successfully managed a removal company for two years before joining the Hazard Management team.

Trudy aims to educate and deliver solutions, through all sectors that encounter environmental issues. Her vast knowledge and connections within the industry are a huge asset when managing large projects. 

Artie Glen

National Performance & Process Manager
Artie has come from an 8-year service with HEB Construction Ltd, being a part of the delivery team in Construction and infrastructure. Artie joined the small team of 3 staff members back in 2010 and worked to implement systems and policies that have shaped HEB Construction Canterbury Team to be leaders in their field. She now brings that wealth of experience and knowledge to Hazard Management. To add value, direction and guidance to a diverse Environmental Company will be Arties main focus. 

Hamish Voice

Key Technical Manager
Hamish is our Key Technical Manager and fills the role of Senior Field Consultant. After gaining his science degree from the University of Canterbury, Hamish has developed through five years of industry experience as an Occupational Hygienist/HAZMAT Consultant. Mainly working with asbestos, Hamish also brings with him a wealth of knowledge from other fields including mould, methamphetamine, contaminated land and occupational monitoring.

Ian Liversidge

Environmental Technician
Ian has 14 years’ experience as an asbestos assessor. Originally from the UK Ian has carried out assessments and air monitoring throughout Europe. His extensive knowledge of the UK legislation has made him an asset to the team. Ian holds an Assessors licence. 

Joseph Witana

Environmental Technician
Joe holds an Assessors licence and has a background in demolition and salvage. His experience in this field opened his eyes to the dangers of asbestos exposure and filled him with a determination to make the construction and demolition industries a safer place to work. Joe has been trained to the W504 and CPCC standards.

Daniel Smith

Environmental Technician
Dan gained 2 years’ experience in the asbestos removal industry before becoming a consultant mid-2017. During his time in asbestos removal he began to understand the dangers of asbestos and the threat if not contained properly. Dan wanted to be a part of ensuring the safety of the workers and others that could be affected, making sure all jobs are completed to a high standard and done correctly.

Cheyenne McKee

Environmental Technician
Cheyenne has recently joined the team after graduating from the university of Canterbury with a bachelor of science and an environmental endorsement. Her studies have allowed her to bring a different skill set and perspective to the team. 

ALEX DAWSON

Environmental Technician
Having graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK with a Bachelor of Science, Alex entered the asbestos industry during the height of the Canterbury rebuild in 2014. Starting as a removalist, Alex gained valuable knowledge of the dangers asbestos poses and the importance of managing the dangers correctly. Alex progressed to become a Class A COC holder and began project managing high risk asbestos jobs. Alex moved into asbestos assessing after 4 years in the removal industry and holds his assessor’s license. 

Clare Knowles

Accounts
Before joining Hazard Management Clare’s back ground has been strongly planted in the administration and accounts fields. Accountable for payroll, accounts and administration support Clare’s can-do attitude puts her in great position to support our strong team and fulfil her role as the National Accounts Administrator.
